It's been a while I know. Not that anybody is reading, but hey, it helps me. Who cares about the rest of you :)
My new topic is divorce. My next one will be being single. Right now I cannot imagine either being any good. The though of a 20 year relationship ending seems like it would be liberating. But it's not. It's depressing.
I guess there is a new trend in divorce. Old people, married for decades, are now divorcing t a pretty quick rate. Those "till death us do part, love, honor and cherish vows" are crap to most people. The latest trend is also that women are now asking for divorce. Affairs, freedom, growing apart are the newest buzz words in divorce court. Well the affair one is pretty old!
So much to think about. Kids, splitting property, finding new living arrangements. It's a bit overwhelming.
I have noticed one thing though. There is very little out there directed at men for divorce "care" I guess it's another double standard we just have to live with..or in this case, live without.

Health Care
I don't know much but I do know some things. First and foremost the health care bill is a bad idea, and I will tell you why. Name one thing the government has done that has not cost more, taken longer and produced worse results than the private sector. You can't can you.
The government does pretty good at national defense. The last foreign soldier fighting against us was long ago. A lot of that does have to do with location. Thanks a lot to the Atlantic and the Pacific. We do pretty good against terrorism. A lot better after 9/11. Our education used to be great, not so much now. Crime is costing billions and they keep arresting the same people over and over. Something wrong with that huh? The war on drugs..failing, Foreign policy...they all hate Americans, Economy..they let the banking system ruin it. Bailouts..didn't do much for the average American. Trade..NAFTA backfired and was the begining of the end for U.S. manufacturing. I can go on and on.
Does not matter, republican, democrat, independent, peace party, could be the Nazi party in charge and health care will still cost more than expected, become corrupt, take to long, not work like expected and become a burden for future generations.
You don't have to do any more than look at the Governments track record to figure it out.
I set my expectations very low for politics. Sometimes I am still disappointed. I think this will be one of those times.
The problem with all of this is, unlike a business, the government at the state and federal level is either to big, to dumb or just to worried about the next election to just say "oh crap this aint working, lets change it"
The really sad part of it all is that the majority of Americans have no choice but to make the best of political failings.

Red Friday
Red Shirt

A little bit of racism
Let me start by saying "I'm not a racist." I don't care what color dirt is, it's still just dirt. That being said, Why is there a BET, magazines specifically published for a certain race, MAPA, NAACP, even a movie titled White Men Can't Jump. Us poor American whites don't have bar mitzvahs, quinceaneras or anything cool like that. We used to have golf. Not anymore. We could claim hockey, but those are all Canadians. We don't even have cool names. Say "Antonio Banderas" with a spanish accent. That sounds cool. Now say "Larry the Cable Guy" with any accent. Not so cool huh.
Yea the KKK is associated with American whites, but that is like Jihad and Muslims. Not cool. Oh yea, forgot, most people would say we have NASCAR. Not us poor white folk. Try buying a ticket to that. I can't afford it.
Well what about country music? Yea, dominated by white folks. But there's a few that ain't white makin big names for themselves.
We also have U.S. history. That's like saying we have politics. That's not cool. That's a negative thing. I was reading that Senators and Congressmen rank below used car salesman in a survey about having morals and ethics. I'd rather be able to claim Oprah and Erkle than the Bush family or Clinton clan.
I say it is time to stop the madness. Hard times call for desperate measures. We need an organization for the advancement of okies, a red neck college fund. We need a trailer trash political party to rise up and say "It ain't fair, us poor honky trash got nothin cool to claim." Well... maybe Paris Hilton, but we want more.

Bailout money
I have an idea for the TARP/Bailout money the gov't can't wait to spend. How about give it to those who are going to pay, or have paid, for it. The Americans who actually have paid in taxes.
Base it on the amount of taxes you have paid in the last 5, 10 or even 15 years. If I have it figured out correctly it is about $50,000 per TAX PAYING citizen. They say we will just horde it or pay off old bills, but what if....they gave it to us in pre-paid Visas, Mastercards and American Express Cards that expire in say 30-60days. We would have to spend it. Even spread them out where you get one every couple of months.
Or we could give more to GM, AIG etc...

The California budget and why it is what it is!
My wife had jury duty yesterday. Well she did her civic duty and went for selection. Being educated, you know she was not picked. But here is the problem. It was a California prison inmate who's already serving 7-15 (looked him up on Megan's web site)for being a pedophile. He is on trial for flashing his wanker to a prison nurse and guard. Here is where the idiot sequence of waste, fraud and abuse comes in.
They should just throw his ass in solitary. Instead they transport him and two guards for jury selection, trial, hearings etc...I live near two prisons and go to a gym frequented by prison guards so I hear A LOT of these stories. The prisoner wants some time outside the bars, they ask to go under to have a tooth removed, they commit a pettty crime like this, something to get outside the bars.
The problem is the state does it. Good old California and it's liberal supreme court judges in San Francisco. There are so many laws and rulings that the prisoners now run the CDC. If a prisoner makes a complaint (they get two a month) that a guard called him a faggot it has to be investigated by five individuals. Every complaint costs $700.00 + in man hours. Lets see 180,000 inmates, 2 complaints a month times $700.00...that's the potential for $225 million of man hours a month.
Lets not even get started on the supreme medical care they get. Because there is such a fear of law suits and losing lucrative jobs they get ridiculous, free, care. Have a headache, get an MRI. Indigestion, EKG. I was told of an inmate, who is in for gang related killings, who went to the emergency clinic because he got a blister playing basketball. Oh poor murderer, a blister.
California spends $45,000 a year for each inmate. They spend $3600 a year for each student. I know I am no Ph.D type but that seems pretty backwords to me. It's time to get together and make new laws as a general public. A simple thing like a co-pay for Dr. visits. We all have to do it. How about an HMO so there are no more MRIs for headaches. A courtroom at the prison, the accused is already there, the guards are already there. Good citizens are already traveling to another location. Lets quit rewarding bad behavior with time outside of the bars and getting to see different women. Unless there is physical harm, bruises, cuts etc...to hell with there complaints. They are in there for a reason, punishment for commiting a crime. Make it punishment.
I read somewhere that 80% of serious crimes are commited by 10% of the poopulation. This combined with our incarcerate but treat them good system explains why 90% of criminals are repeat offenders. Lets make it miserable for them. The system is broke and a huge drain on the already miserable economy.
We need to cut spending. This makes more sense than cutting cops, firemen and teachers

They all make it sound so easy
I just had lunch with a friend. In between bites of two juicy, greasy burgers we had a semi-serious discussion about a lot of self-help books, CDs, internet sites etc...One thing that strikes me about all of them, and I have read many, is how simple they make everything sound.
I was just reading one "self-improvement" guru site that gives 10 reasons why getting a job is bad. He sounded as if he is of the firm opinion that we should all work for ourselves. Yea sounds great, but reality has to set in sometimes and give a slap in the face. Like who is going to help at the gym you talked about going to on your blog? Who is going to serve you your latte? Get real. Has he seen the unemployment, foreclosure and bankruptcy rates lately?
Face it, in a perfect world we could all do what he does and earn what he earns. (which is way to much for his advice) In reality it just does not happen. The best scenario is you can quit your job and work for yourself. The reality is very few people make it to that point. It is the same as being a professional athlete the reality is it is one in 1,000,000 that makes it.
The truth is life is not that easy. If we believe it is as simple as think positive or quit your job and work for yourself we will be disappointed (and probably broke). Everything about life has both rewards and consequences. It is how we deal with both that makes life either rewarding or disapointing. Although thinking positive and working for yourself has much to do with it, it is not all inclusive.
The truth is life is not easy, it takes work. Anyone selling you something that contradicts that is just selling you something!
