The California budget and why it is what it is!

My wife had jury duty yesterday. Well she did her civic duty and went for selection. Being educated, you know she was not picked. But here is the problem. It was a California prison inmate who's already serving 7-15 (looked him up on Megan's web site)for being a pedophile. He is on trial for flashing his wanker to a prison nurse and guard. Here is where the idiot sequence of waste, fraud and abuse comes in.

They should just throw his ass in solitary. Instead they transport him and two guards for jury selection, trial, hearings etc...I live near two prisons and go to a gym frequented by prison guards so I hear A LOT of these stories. The prisoner wants some time outside the bars, they ask to go under to have a tooth removed, they commit a pettty crime like this, something to get outside the bars.

The problem is the state does it. Good old California and it's liberal supreme court judges in San Francisco. There are so many laws and rulings that the prisoners now run the CDC. If a prisoner makes a complaint (they get two a month) that a guard called him a faggot it has to be investigated by five individuals. Every complaint costs $700.00 + in man hours. Lets see 180,000 inmates, 2 complaints a month times $700.00...that's the potential for $225 million of man hours a month.

Lets not even get started on the supreme medical care they get. Because there is such a fear of law suits and losing lucrative jobs they get ridiculous, free, care. Have a headache, get an MRI. Indigestion, EKG. I was told of an inmate, who is in for gang related killings, who went to the emergency clinic because he got a blister playing basketball. Oh poor murderer, a blister.

California spends $45,000 a year for each inmate. They spend $3600 a year for each student. I know I am no Ph.D type but that seems pretty backwords to me. It's time to get together and make new laws as a general public. A simple thing like a co-pay for Dr. visits. We all have to do it. How about an HMO so there are no more MRIs for headaches. A courtroom at the prison, the accused is already there, the guards are already there. Good citizens are already traveling to another location. Lets quit rewarding bad behavior with time outside of the bars and getting to see different women. Unless there is physical harm, bruises, cuts etc...to hell with there complaints. They are in there for a reason, punishment for commiting a crime. Make it punishment.

I read somewhere that 80% of serious crimes are commited by 10% of the poopulation. This combined with our incarcerate but treat them good system explains why 90% of criminals are repeat offenders. Lets make it miserable for them. The system is broke and a huge drain on the already miserable economy.

We need to cut spending. This makes more sense than cutting cops, firemen and teachers
